Why do ants come out all at once?

There are two important forms of ant escapes. There are the escapes that take place all the time and those that happen suddenly. The first form takes place no matter what, while the second form concerns colonies of ants that have never been a source of boredom, but suddenly decide to leave. Discover here the different motivations behind this sudden escape.

Constant exits of ants

The constant urge of some ant colonies to come out comes from their genetic nature. Whether carpenter antsor fire ants, some species of these insects are genetically made this way. Other species, on the other hand, are less inclined to constantly escape, but sometimes a colony that is part of it behaves differently.

Whether this constant urge to go out is related to a species or just a colony, there are ways to reduce the nuisance that this entails. You need to determine the particular motivations that push the colony to want to go out constantly. Only then will you find solutions. Or you can simply exterminate them unceremoniously.

Sudden outflows of ants

Sudden outflows of ants are related to the satisfaction of their vital needs. When these needs are met, these pharaoh ants or carpenter ants remain in their nests. As soon as things change, they go out to satisfy themselves. In other words, these abrupt exits are not species-specific.

Speaking of vital needs, there are two main ones. The first is related to food and hydration. The second need is related to the small size of their space. This narrowness did not allow the colony to develop in numbers.

Need to feed or hydrate

Sometimes water and food resources are depleted so that the members of the group are no longer sufficient. When this happens, it is up to the workers to fetch supplies of water and food where it is available. They must therefore come out of the nest to fulfill this mission. To solve this problem and mitigate the nuisance it causes, you need to provide these insects with water and food.

If it’s a colony of ants you’re raising, don’t think you’ve failed in your mission to take care of them. The only reason behind such an exit is that the number of ants has increased. Their needs have also become important. To get things back in order, calculate the food and water portion that this new colony size needs. Then make that portion available to them.

If, on the other hand, it is not a colony of ants in your custody, then you should consider keeping them away from your home. You can do it on your own. Unfortunately, this could be too large a band and difficult to eradicate. The intervention of an expert in Antiparasitic Extermination will therefore be necessary.

Need for space

A colony whose numbers have greatly increased logically needs space to contain itself. If this is a team that you are raising, then you have two options to solve this problem. The first is that you do not want the colony to grow. Then it will be necessary to reduce the number of pharaoh ants without eradicating the colony. To achieve this, increase the hermeticity of the nest. Gradually, the colony will self-regulate. Its membership will stop growing. If, however, you want the size of the colony to grow, move it to a much larger nest.

If, on the other hand, the sudden exit of this colony for one reason of space or for another creates nuisance for you, you must get rid of it. For this purpose, the use of the services of a pest extermination company will be necessary.

Invasion of ants: react quickly to eradicate them!

When you notice the presence of ants in your home in the summer, it is usually due to a need to feed. This does not necessarily mean that they have founded a colony in your home or near the house. The ideal is to set them small traps that will attract them away from your home.

On the other hand, if it is in spring or autumn and winter that you discover these insects at home, do not wait before calling a pest control extermination company. If you live in Montreal or elsewhere in Quebec, our company “Exterminator in Montreal“ has the expertise you need. With regard to all cases of invasion of dwellings by pests including ants, our services are as follows:

  • Consultation;
  • External treatment;
  • Identification and expertise;
  • Biology Department;
  • Misting service;
  • Etc.

The most serious cases of invasion are those involving carpenter ants. Their dangerousness is such that they are able to destroy the structure of your home. The reason is simple: they like to gnaw wood to turn it into sawdust. In other words, as soon as you discover sawdust in places in the house, immediately call one of our exterminators.

Testimonials

Mr. Gagnon. Laval: "I noticed that wasps were entering my veranda, so I called Alerte Animal. Mr. René Gélinas started by securing me on the phone. He then advised me not to not block the entrance where the wasps were circulating, because I risked finding them inside my house. On his arrival he dealt with the problem and I am very satisfied. Thank you again Mr Gelinas "

Mr Maurice, Montreal last March we returned from a week's vacation. I noticed ants in Indian files. Although I used bug spray, it kept coming back. I contacted Mr Gélinas on the recommendation of a friend. He reassured me about the nature of the insect (it was not carpenters) and got rid of it in a single intervention.

Mme Lamarche, Montreal: I heard funny noises in the corner of my room on the second floor ... it sounded like continuous crackles like when adding milk to the Crispi rice (cereals) I called René the exterminator and he came right away. Thank you very much for your team.
